We Feel Fine, created by Jonathan Harris and Sep Kamvar, scans the internet searching for blog posts with the phrases "I feel" or "I am feeling" and presents a mosaic of images. Another project by Harris, Whale Hunt, also collects photos and presents the photographs.

Harris (2007) describes that montage, sometimes a "photographic heartbeat" montage compositions allows "partial glimps". He also notes that "fundamental components" of any narrative and argues:
"the thing about stories though, most of the existing mediums we’re accustomed to, things like novels, radio, photographs, movies, even lectures like this one, we’re very accustomed to this idea of the narrator, or the camera position: some kind of ammunition to external body through which, through whose eyes you see the story. We’re very used to this. But if you think about the real life, it’s not like that at all. I mean, in real life things are much more nuanced and complexed and all these overlapping stories intersecting and touching each other."
